Today I am grateful for … the grey

Some days, weeks, months, can be very difficult. It’s okay to feel stuck there. Yet, even in that place, I can remind myself that in any moment, I can look at things differently. I don’t have to be enthusiastic about the grey, but I can be grateful. Whatever it takes, I can find something to be grateful for: a home, a friend, community resources, a tree, a pet, a bird call. Anything that takes my mind away from the descending fog, that reduces its greyness, even for a moment.

The grey can be a source of strength and greatness, the beginning of realising our truth and setting out more purposefully on our life path. Grey creates the contrast I need to appreciate the good.

When I am grey, I will find colour somewhere, just as a reminder that without the grey, I would not know the beauty of green foliage, the vastness of startling blue skies, the warmth of the golden summer sun.

And when the grey gives way to better days, I will continue to be grateful for the contrast.
